Meet Our Editors
Dan Hoppen
A lifelong resident, Dan Hoppen’s role as a Content Creator for Hurrdat ONE allows him to showcase all the greatness Omaha has to offer. Through social media, podcasts, and blog posts, he and the Hurrdat ONE team spotlight the people, events, restaurants, history, and attractions that make this city special.
Dan’s great appreciation for food started around the family dinner table, as his mother was a stellar home cook. That love was further instilled by watching the Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,” which highlighted local chefs and restaurants in a unique way. Dan was inspired by the passion that its host, Guy Fieri, had for the people he met and the impact he made on the community.
In 2019, Dan started his podcast, “Restaurant Hoppen,” where he chats with Omaha chefs, restaurateurs, bakers, or coffee shop owners about their background, business, and food. He also helps Omahans find their next great meal by highlighting locally-owned restaurants on his social media and his website, restauranthoppen.com.
Abigail McLaughlin
Abby is a Senior Communications Strategist at Hurrdat’s Lukas Partners with expertise in storytelling, news media relations, brand reputation management and social media response strategies. She helps clients tell their stories through blog writing and securing earned media. She also manages social media responses and writes client newsletters, paid content, opinion editorials, executive announcements, news releases, and media alerts. She supports clients including AIM Institute, Outlook Nebraska, UScellular/TMobile, Creighton University and FNTS.
Prior to Lukas Partners, Abby earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she majored in advertising and public relations with a minor in textiles, merchandising, and fashion design. During her time at UNL, Abby was a teaching assistant for the Department of Food Science and Technology. After, Abby wrote content and created a multi-channel social strategy for a tech startup, Leash.
Colette Adair
Colette is a Digital Content Creator at Hurrdat ONE with a background in social media, video content production, and brand management. She creates content that spotlights places and experiences that make her hometown, Omaha, so unique.
Prior to joining Hurrdat, Colette earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Media Communications from the University of Nebraska Omaha, where she concentrated in Advertising and Public Relations. During her time at UNO, she served as Marketing Director for Chi Omega, growing the chapter’s Instagram, and was also the Chapter PR Representative for PRSSA. She was also a member of the UNO Dance Team.
Pat Safford
A Nebraska native, Pat Safford has spent more than 25 years connecting with audiences across Omaha and the surrounding communities. Best known as co-host of the popular “Pat & JT” morning show and podcast, Pat has built a career around telling local stories and keeping people informed about what’s happening around the metro.
As Director of Hurrdat ONE, he helps readers discover the best of Omaha. From local events, restaurants, and family-friendly attractions to neighborhood updates and the city’s rich history. Passionate about Omaha lore and community storytelling, Pat enjoys sharing the people, places, and experiences that make the city unique.
