Construction crews have pushed Mutual of Omaha’s downtown headquarters past the 44th floor, making it Nebraska’s tallest building as the project continues toward a fall 2026 completion.

The tower reached several construction milestones in late 2025.

Structural steel now extends above the 35th floor on all sides, while the tower crane completed its sixth and final climb in late August, reaching 780 feet. Crews have finished pouring concrete for the building’s shear core, completing all vertical concrete work.

The building’s exterior is taking shape as workers install perforated metal panels on the parking garage and continue placing glass panels up the tower’s sides. Inside, construction has begun through the 21st floor.

A 13-foot, 350-pound steel beam — the final piece for the tower — first went to Mutual of Omaha‘s existing campus, where employees signed it before installation.

At 677 feet tall with 44 floors, the building will span approximately 800,000 square feet on the west end of Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront. The company broke ground on the project in January 2023 after announcing plans a year earlier. Lanoha Real Estate Company is developing the project.

The new headquarters will accommodate about 2,500 employees, smaller than Mutual’s current 1.7-million-square-foot midtown campus, as the company transitions to a hybrid work model.
