Omaha theater fans packed the Holland Center Monday night for one of the most anticipated events on the local arts calendar: the Omaha Performing Arts season reveal. O-pa president Joan Squires took the stage to unveil the 2026-2027 Broadway season lineup, and the crowd didn’t have to wait long to get a taste of what’s coming — Broadway cast members performed live throughout the evening.
Nine shows are headed to the Orpheum Theater, and Squires didn’t undersell it. “We are thrilled to announce one of our biggest seasons ever,” she said. “Four of the nine productions are brand new to Omaha with two direct from Broadway on their first year of touring.”
Here’s everything coming to Omaha’s Orpheum Theater next season.
The Full 2026-2027 Omaha Broadway Season
Death Becomes Her
Oct. 27 – Nov. 1, 2026 | Orpheum Theater
The season kicks off with one of Broadway’s hottest recent hits. Based on the 1992 film starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, Death Becomes Her is a Tony Award-winning musical comedy following rival frenemies Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp — and the mysterious potion that sends their feud to a whole new level. Directed and choreographed by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli, the show has been called “the most fun night out” by The Daily Beast.
Beetlejuice (season add-on)
Nov. 20 – 21, 2026 | Orpheum Theater
The ghost-with-the-most is back in Omaha by popular demand. Beetlejuice returns as an add-on option for subscribers looking to round out their fall theater calendar.
Maybe Happy Ending
Dec. 8 – 13, 2026 | Orpheum Theater
One of the most buzzed-about new musicals in years, Maybe Happy Ending won six Tony Awards including Best Musical. Directed by Tony winner Michael Arden (Parade), the show follows a chance encounter between two characters that sparks connection, adventure and maybe even love. USA Today called it “one of the best musicals in years.” This is one of the two shows coming direct from Broadway on its first year of touring.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast
Jan. 20 – 27, 2027 | Orpheum Theater
Be our guest — Disney’s beloved classic is returning to North American stages for the first time in over 25 years. Members of the original creative team reunited to bring this production back to life, making it a must-see for families and longtime fans of the show.
The Phantom of the Opera
Feb. 17 – 28, 2027 | Orpheum Theater
The Phantom is back in Omaha. Cameron Mackintosh’s revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical — rapturously received when it reopened in London in 2021 — comes to the Orpheum with Maria Björnson’s original design and Harold Prince’s direction intact. The production has been called “more spectacular than ever.”
The Great Gatsby
March 30 – April 4, 2027 | Orpheum Theater
Scott Fitzgerald’s classic American novel gets the full Broadway treatment in this Tony Award-winning musical. Entertainment Weekly called it “a Broadway extravaganza that explodes with life and energy” and “one wildly entertaining night at the theater.”
The Sound of Music
April 27 – May 2, 2027 | Orpheum Theater
The Rodgers & Hammerstein classic returns to Omaha with its timeless story and beloved score. Sixty-five years in, The Sound of Music remains one of the most beloved productions in Broadway history.
The Book of Mormon (season add-on)
May 18 – 23, 2027 | Orpheum Theater
The award-winning comedy phenomenon returns as a subscriber add-on for those who haven’t seen it — or those who have and just want to go again.
Hell’s Kitchen
June 22 – 27, 2027 | Orpheum Theater
The season closes with one of Broadway’s most talked-about recent productions. Hell’s Kitchen features Grammy-winning music by Alicia Keys and is making its Omaha debut as part of its first year of touring direct from Broadway.
